
Overview
The Center for Health Enhancement (CenHealth) aims to conduct and promote research and intervention programs focused on health promotion and disease prevention, ultimately enhancing population health. CenHealth is directed by Dr. Lourdes Baezconde-Garbanati and co-directed by Dr. Mary Ann Pentz, both of whom are professors in the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences. The center is located within the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences and is affiliated with the Institute for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. It serves as a virtual hub of information for students and faculty interested in programs and practices that enhance population health.
Mission Statement
CenHealth’s mission is to advance research, education, and intervention programs that promote health and prevent disease, ultimately enhancing population health. As a virtual hub within the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine at USC, we connect students, faculty, researchers and community residents with evidence-based practices and innovative strategies to improve community well-being. Our mission is to foster and support research that enhances population health by supporting student/faculty and academic/community collaborations, expanding knowledge through research, information dissemination, and accelerating technology transfer, while engaging in impactful conversations on significant public health issues.
Goals
- To facilitate partnerships and collaboration among students, faculty, community residents, decision- makers, practitioners and researchers for health enhancement.
- To create a virtual space where the sharing of resources, research, and evidence-based practices can take place.
- To convene students, faculty, researchers, and stakeholders to facilitate discussions on population health and disseminate research for health enhancement.
